The following is a description of the minimum system you can use to run Hardball 6: 2000 Edition. If you attempt to run Hardball 6: 2000 Edition on a system that does not meet or exceed these requirements, the game will run incorrectly, or not at all.
To run Hardball 6: 2000 Edition, you must have:
Windows 95
Pentium 100 or higher
16 MB Ram
DirectX 5.1 or higher must be installed, with latest video and sound card drivers
PCI or AGP graphics card*
4X CD Drive
* - For best performance, a 3D-accelerator card that supports Direct 3D is recommended.
"Nothing happens when insert the game CD into my CD-ROM drive."
The AutoPlay feature is disabled on some computers. To run the game without AutoPlay, please see step 2a of the Installation section above. To enable AutoPlay, contact your computer's manufacturer.
"During launch or while the game is playing, an error message comes up that mentions a 'General Protection Fault'."
This type of error can come up for many reasons. Usually, you can solve the problem by updating your video and/or 3D hardware with the latest drivers available from the manufacturer. If this doesn't help, make sure that you have shut down all of your other applications before playing the game.
First, make sure you have updated drivers for your video hardware. If you have the most recent drivers and the game still won't recognize your hardware, refer to the Hardball 6 Video Card Supplement document, located on the CD under the filename Vidcards.rtf. This document contains all pertinent video card information for the game, and can be viewed with notepad or wordpad.
I have a Voodoo 2 video card and the game locks up.
This problem has been fixed with the Hardball 6 patch. Download and run the patch to install new files in your game that fix this problem.
If the game randomly locks up, crashes, or ejects you into the Windows desktop, there may be a problem with the video card settings or you may have a conflict with another program.
First, turn off or disable all unnecessary programs in the background, especially Screen Savers and Virus Scanners.
Then, set your desktop resolution to 800x600, 16 bit color. These are the preferred settings for Hardball 6: 2000 Edition.
Unfortunately NetAccolade has been permanently cancelled, however there are other options of hooking up games with other players. The ability to set up games independent of the NA server has always been in the game. If you can become comfortable using the TCP/IP or Modem connection in the game, and know others who own the game, you can set up your own games.
"How do I set up a multiplayer game?"
Directions for this can be found on pages 40-42 of your Hardball 6: 2000 Edition manual. Make sure all systems have the same network protocol installed. For details on this procedure, please see our Windows 95/98 Modem/Network Troubleshooting FAQ.
When I release a player, he doesn't show up on the FREE AGENT list.
This is a known issue. The workaround is to export the player and then import him to another team.
How do I start a Season?
Go to League Play. Buy a team. Then go to DRAFT. If you want to start a new draft, select START DRAFT. If you wish to use the preset teams, go to SKIP DRAFT. Now go to SCHEDULE and then START SEASON.
"How can I improve the game's overall performance?"
Make that your system meets the minimum system requirements to run the game as listed at the top of this document. If it does not, you may be able to increase performance by following some of tips in this section, but don't be surprised if performance still suffers.
If your game controller is not responding make sure it is configured and calibrated in your Windows Control Panel. To check how to do this, please see our Windows 95/98 Controller Troubleshooting FAQ.
"How can I configure my joystick/gamepad?"
Unfortunately, you cannot customize your controls on your joystick or gamepad.
"What are all these abbreviations in the game?"
Please refer to pages 37-40 for all statistical categories and abbreviations.
"The problem I've encountered wasn't listed in this document!"
Make sure that your system meets the minimum requirements as listed at the top of this document. If your system does not meet these requirements, the game will run poorly or not at all.
Shut down all other applications that may be running on your computer. Other programs can interfere with the operation of the game. For more information, please see our Windows 95/98 General Troubleshooting FAQ.
Make sure that the CD itself is not dirty or damaged in any way, and then try re-installing the game from scratch using the instructions at the top of this document.
